It's back to school season. However, adults with or without children, still need to start thinking about their own fall wardrobe. Children grow out of their shoes quickly, but adults don't usually have that handy excuse to go shopping for fashion updates.
It is recommended that the same pair of shoes is not worn every day. This is to get more wear out of the shoes you have, to let them dry from the perspiration (up to one pint per day!) that soaks into the leather, as well as to prevent the shape of your foot from changing.
So, why don't you buy one new pair and refurbish an old favorite from a previous season? There is probably a shoe repair within a few blocks of your home or workplace. So, if the soles are looking worn or there are tears to take care of, you should take it to a professional. However, if you just want to freshen up the appearance, there are a few easy steps to take, to make that second pair look (almost) as good as new.
Leather uppers need moisturizing just like your skin. Although the "daily routine" is not necessary, using leather lotion on a regular basis does keep the leather soft and will not let it crack as easily. Then follow up with a thin, even coat of shoe polish and rub or brush off vigorously after it's dry. Alternatively, a good shoe polish will freshen the color, nourish the leather and product against water and dirt all in one step. This is especially recommended for higher quality footwear and those with climate membranes such as Goretex. Special care is advised, so that the pores of the leather are not clogged, rendering the Goretex ineffective.

July 2010 - Granny Chic goes mainstream
Worishofer (Woerishofer) has been making sandals with arch and metatarsal support for decades and we have sold them since the 70s as well. More recently, customers in every age range from 25-85 have purchased them, sometimes in several colors at once. Younger customers calling it "granny chic", more mature customers just liking them because they are so comfortable to wear around the house or all day long.
Now the Hollywood celebrities have found them and there is no shortage of fashion reporters and blogs commenting on the trend:
